Q. What is Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary?
Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary kicks off United Way's 100th anniversary campaign, which is raising $40 million in honor of our centennial in 2027. Your generosity will help United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania do more than respond to today’s challenges. It will prepare our region for what comes next.
Your contributions benefit United Way's Fund for Transformation and Resilience, which strengthens the systems that help families find stability, children succeed in school, and neighbors access food, shelter, employment and critical supports. This fund fuels innovation, long-term partnerships and rapid response when crises arise, ensuring our community is never left unprepared.
Each year, United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania helps 1.5 million people by bringing together nonprofits, businesses and public partners to tackle the most complex and urgent issues facing our region. When you Give Big, you support multi-year solutions, meeting emergent needs when resources fall short, and fortifying our impact for generations to come.
Q. When is Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary?
Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary begins at midnight on June 17, 2026 and continues to June 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
Q. Who can donate?
Anyone may donate. Donations through the Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary online portal benefit United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization, and tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be processed and receipted by GiveGab/Bonterra.
Q. One of my friends is a United Way fundraising champion. How do I donate to support their fundraiser?
You can find a list of all United Way fundraising champions here [INSERT LINK]. Click on your friend's name and you'll automatically be redirected to their fundraising page. After you donate, you can click through to this Leaderboard to see who is raising the most money for United Way's 100th anniversary. Please note: fundraising champion donations take place on a United Way managed giving site and are not subject to additional fees.
Q. What is GiveGab/Bonterra?
GiveGab, which is becoming Bonterra, is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently.
Q. How will donations be distributed?
Donations will be disbursed directly from GiveGab/Bonterra to United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania via direct deposit within 5-7 business days of June 30, 2026.
Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?
GiveGab/Bonterra retains a 2% campaign management fee from all donations. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.5% + $0.30 for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania. All donations are final and cannot be refunded. Any donations processed outside of the Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary donation period through GiveGab.com, or subsequent recurring donations, are also subject to the transaction fees outlined above.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.
Q. Do I need to create an account to make a donation?
No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.

Q. Can I pre-schedule a donation for Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary?
You cannot pre-schedule your Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary gift. In order for your donation to be counted towards the official tally of Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary it must be made between midnight June 17, 2026 and 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2026.

Q. How can I ensure United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania receives my donation?
Your donations will be sent to United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania ACH transfer within 5-7 business days of June 30, 2026, when Give Big United Way 100th Anniversary closes.
